Despite the unique caves of Iran such as Dosar, Namakdan-e- Qeshm, and Parau, these opportunities have not been fully taken for arranging special cave trekking tours.

Iran's cave trekking tours are arranged for both Iranian and foreigner tourists. There are 11 well known caves in Iran for hosting tourists and arranging cave trekking tours; in addition, 2000 other caves can be prepared for foreigner tourists. Regarding the variety of caves, they can attract Iranian and foreigner tourists, but tourists' physical capabilities for attending such tours should be taken into consideration. Since caves are various in terms of their difficulty levels, it is not comfortable for everyone to enter every cave. Thus, we provide all the required facilities for tourists' comfortability to visit all must-see caves of Iran.

Some caves of Iran for tourism tours

Katale Khor cave

Katale Khor is an enormous cave which has not been completely discovered. Katale means a small mountain and Khor is the abbreviation of Khorshid means the sun. Therefore, the cave is called Katale Khor due to the mountain where the cave is located within. So far, three levels of this beautiful cave have been discovered, but it is suspected that the cave consists of seven levels which makes it the first limestone cave of the world. The cave is aged 120 million years. A number of human skeleton and pottery handicrafts have been discovered which belong to the lost or the buried people in the cave. Currently, 2 kilometers of the cave's route which covers the one third of the whole route is accessible for public. The cave is located in a 165 kilometers distance to the south of Zanjan and it can be visited via Zanjan- Soltanieh roads and Hamedan- Kabudrahang.

Ali saadr cave

Whenever we hear the word "cave", most of us recall the world's largest water cave: "Ali Saadr Cave". There is a lake inside the cave which forces visitors to enter the cave only via boat riding. The water elevation reaches to even 14 meters in some points of the lake. The temperature of the cave is constant throughout the year at 14 degrees Celsius. Ali Saadr Cave dates back to million years ago and to Jurassic Era. It is interesting to know that almost no creature lives inside the cave because of the absence of sun light. Apart from unicellular organisms and algae, a particular specie of Crustacean named Niphargus lives in Ali Saadr Cave. To access the cave, you need to pass Hamedan- Lalejin road towards Bijar. It is also accessible via Saleh Abad and Razan.

Chama Ice Cave

Chama Ice Cave is a kind of cave which you must travel to the northernmost parts of the globe to visit such a cave. You will be amazed by seeing the mass of ice and snow in summer's overwhelming hot weather. The cave is situated within Chama valley in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province. Masses of snow are annually accumulated there that have become permanent. In addition to the beauty of the cave, it is considered as the largest fresh water resource throughout Iran. A very clear river flows beneath the snow masses which leads to Koohrang Dam. Before packing your backpack, remember to bring appropriate shoes and safety tools with yourself. After arriving at the cave, please consider the safety instructions and do not shift from the main visit route, in any case. To reach Chama Ice Cave, there is a winding road from Chelgerd city which is 25 kilometers in length.    

Roodafshan Cave

Roodafshan Cave is located in Tehran province. You must drive towards Firuzkuh and go to Roodafashan Cave and Village from Seyed Abad village. Afterwards, there is a 30 minutes walking distance to reach the cave's opening. Unfortunately, light wiring system inside the cave has damaged and it is in an absolute darkness; therefore, it is highly recommended to have a flashlight with yourself. To identify the route, flashlight is the only tool you can use. The main characteristic of Roodafshan Cave is its opening which is 20 meters in height and moving in the cave is a bit difficult. Please avoid bringing kids, disabled people, and those who suffer from respiratory diseases to the cave.

Karaftu Cave

Karaftu Cave is one of the most spectacular caves in Iran which is located in west part of the country. The cave is situated in a 70 kilometers distance to the north west of Divaandareh in Kordestan province. This limestone cave had been formed during the third geological period. In ancient era, caves were the habitant of human, where mankind created some rooms and corridors. These transformations led Karaftu to be one of the most famous caves which had been artificially digged by human hand. There is a Greek inscription inside the cave that it is probably belongs to Seleucid Empire (Alexander's successors). Similar to the majority of Iran's caves, identification of this cave has not been completely done, so far.   

Quri Qala Cave  

Quri Qala Cave is the longest cave in Iran and the largest water cave of Asia which is aged 65 million years and located in Kermanshah province. While you are visiting the cave, you can simultaneously enjoy the extraordinary natural beauties of Kermanshah province. The cave is called Quri Qala because there was a Qala (fort in Persian) shaped like a "Quri" (teapot in Persian) during Sasanian Empire. The cave's temperature fluctuates between 7 to 11 degrees in Centigrade. Many vertebrates were living in the cave before it was discovered by human. Currently, a rare species of bat lives in the cave.  

Shapur Cave

Shapur Cave is located in Kazerun city in Fars province. Apart from the natural attractions of Shapur Cave, it also has some historical attractions. A statue with 6 meters' height of the first Shapur was carved which is still remained at the cave's opening after 1700 years. The cave is 30 meters in length and 15 meters in height.
