Zard Kuh

Zard Kuh-e Bakhtiari with an elevation of 4221 meters is the second highest mountain (After Dena) in Zagros Range. Zard Kuh is located near Kuhrang in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province in Iran. Zard Kuh-e Bakhtiari Mountain Range is situated in south west of Iran and it extends from the extreme west part of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province to the north east of Khuzestan Province.

This mountain is one of the richest natural water resources of Iran and the two water-rich rivers of the country (Karun & Zayanderud) are originated from its foothills. Shah-e-Shahidan, Zardeh, Dozardeh, Haft tanan, Klvnchyn and Kino can be named as the most famous and beautiful summits of Zard Kuh. Klvnchyn with an elevation of 4221 meters is the highest summit of Zard Kuh-e Bakhtiari. In addition, Shah-e-Shahidan summit is elevated 4150 meters.

Taftan Mountain

Taftan is the only active volcano throughout the country. This mountain is located in the south east part of Iran in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. This summit is situated at an approximate four thousands meters above sea level and it is the highest summit in the south east part of Iran. Khash is the nearest city to Taftan Mountain.

In Persian language, Taftan means a warm place. This is an active volcano that emits sulfur from its caldera. Generally, mountaineers ascend from the west edge of the mountain in where an equipped haven has been built. Ascending to this summit is too hard due to the heavy and cold winds in winters.

Sahand Mountain

Sahand is the name of the summit located to the south of Tabriz City in East Azerbaijan Province which is considered as a tourist attraction in the province. Sahand Mountain is at 3695 meters above sea level with a wide and vast cone which is composed of erupted ashes and tuffs; additionally, some narrow valleys were made by the flowing waters. Sahand is among Alborz mountain range that situated on north of Maragheh, extends from the west to the east, and Jaam is its highest summit which elevated 3710 meters. Sahand and Jaam are the two joined summits in this mountain range. Moreover, Sahand is covered by the snow whole the year. Sahand foothills are covered by flowers, Basil, and Fritillaria during the year.

After Sabalan, Sahand Mountain is one of the largest and the most important heights of Azerbaijan which is located 50 kilometers south of Tabriz city and 40 kilometers North of Maragheh. The separated and dormant volcanic summit of Sahand is situated within Azerbaijan plain. This dormant volcanic mountain resembles Ararat, Alborz, and Sabalan which has been created in the middle of the two discharging masses of Alborz and Armenia.

Tochal Mountain

Tochal is a mountain peak in the north of Tehran with an elevation of 3962 meters which is a part of Alborz Mountain range foothills. The southern foothill of Tochal is adjacent to Tehran city and its summit overlooks the city. The most famous and the most crowded havens in Tochal are respectively from east to west as follows: Kolakchal, Shervin, Shirpala, and the fifth station of Tochal Telecabin (Tochal ski lift), Speed shelter belt, and Palangchal that all of them overlook Tehran.

Tochal Telecabin (Tochal ski lift) is a well-known ski resort consists of three main lines, three cable car lines and a chairlift line. Overall, the three main lines are 7500 meters in length which is considered as one of the longest continuous ski lift lines throughout the world. The third station of this ski lift is at 2000 meters above sea level, the fifth station is at 3000 meters above sea level, and the seventh station is at 3700 meters above sea level.

In 1974, construction of Tochal Telecabin (ski lift) was established by Bahman Batmanghlich in partnership with "Poma" the French company and the Austrian company named Doppel Mayr and it was finished in 1978. Tochal Hotel was launched in 2003 situating in the seventh station of Tochal Telecabin Recreational and Sport Complex. Facade of the hotel building was made by wood which overlooks the northern foothill of Tochal, the southern foothill of Central Alborz, and the summits of Azadkouh and Kholeno. Speed shelter belt is the oldest haven of Iran mountaineering which is located in the south of Tochal peak and on the east of the fifth station.

Martian Mountains

Martian Mountains are the unique and spectacular mountains which can be observed in Chabahr- Gwadar road and they are considered as one of the most beautiful natural sceneries of Iran which have been neglected, unfortunately. In the approximate distance of 40 to 50 kilometers away from Chabahar to Gwadar Bay, the mountains appear on the left side of the road are known as Miniature or Martian Mountains. Existence of these mountains in front of the completely different scenery of the right side of the road, towards the sea, creates one of the most attractive roads and natural scenery in Sistan and Baluchestan Province that are less visited due to the poor tourism advertisement.

These mountains are well known as Martian Mountains due to their strange shapes that lacks plant coverage, and their weirdness. They are badland samples which are considered as a special ecological phenomenon. The approximate white color of the mountain (a combination of grey and white) creates dreamlike and imaginative sceneries because of abundant debris flow in its bottom, presence of hot and damp weather and its relatively high humidity level, and on the top of all these, the sea embraces the whole scenery.

This breathtaking view divides Chabahar- Gwadar road into two halves; one side consists of the cone Martian mountains with their fantastic grey color, and the other side includes green sea with red sands and desert shrubs on its bank.
