Tabriz city is the capital of East Azerbaijan province where has been known as one of Iran's metropolises. Tabriz is also considered as one of the best tourism options throughout the nation. The city is the hometown of Azeri people that has been known as the capital of Iran's tourism destinations in 2018. Tabriz is one of the largest cities of Iran and was established in Aji Chai valley. The city is situated in the east corner of a sedimentary plain and extended with a moderate slope to Lake Urmia. Einaly mountain range including Bababaghi, Pakeh chin, and Bahlul peaks are located in the north of the city and Sahand mountain range is situated in its south. Generally, Tabriz has pleasant climate in summers and cold winters. In the past, Tabriz was globally famous for handicrafts and there were numerous factories for producing Zarbaft textiles (Brocade in Persian). Furthermore, a type of carpet and textile called Elijeh was so famous in the past centuries. In Shah Safi era, fabrics such as silk, Ghanaviz, Ghatifeh Dadaei, and Ghomash were well known fabrics. Currently, weaving Elijeh and Ghatni Aba fabrics, silk Jajim and the industry of Toreutics on silver, carpet weaving, and other handicrafts are prevalent in this city. Tabriz is an industrial and semi- agricultural city where is considered as a transit city because of locating in the road towards Turkey and Europe. The city's exports can be listed as industrial and agricultural machineries, production of towel, fabric, leather, flour, nuts, cereals and grains. The city is considered as an important industrial hub aross the country due to its factories and large industrial and manufacturing workshops. In addition, there are many hotels in Tabriz where host numerous travelers and tourists, annually.

Tourist Attractions in Tabriz

Tabriz Municipality Museum

Tabriz Municipality Museum is situated at the underground floor of the municipality palace. The museum is considered as the first and the only museum of Iran's municipalities' history. After China, the museum is ranked among the first municipality museums across the world.

Tabriz carpet bazaar

Tabriz carpet bazaar is one of Iran's historical tourist attractions. Every part of Tabriz traditional bazaar had been formed in a particular shape regarding the type of business which is run in the place. Thus, diverse parts of bazaar were formed as Rasteh (corridor in Persian), Sara, Timcheh, Dalan, and Gozar where both people and salespersons can comfortably trade with each other.  

Constitution House      

Constitution House of Tabriz is situated in an old neighborhood of the city named Rasteh Koucheh, in the west part of Tabriz Grand Bazaar. The building was built in the style of Qajar architecture which was the private house of Haj Mehdi Kouze Kanani.   

El Goli

El Goli or Shah Goli is one of the most important recreational and tourist attractions, located in the south east of Tabriz in a 7 kilometers distance to the city center. The garden was established in Aq Qoyunlu era which was developed in Safavid dynasty. There is a lake in Shah Goli complex with 12 meters depth where provides the opportunity for boat riding. The lake has been globally known for the 5-star international hotel in its center.   

Arasbaran forest

Arasbaran forest is a pristine region in Tabriz. A lush forest where encompasses all types of animal and plant species. The forest has also been known with other names called Arasbar, Arazbar, Qaradaq, or Qarachadaq.

Ali Musyo

Ali Musyo was the second mayor of Tabriz. He was one of the most prominent Iranian revolutionaries in the past 100 years. Currently, his house is converted to a spectacular museum. The museum is located in South Artesh Street.

Kantal National Park

Kantal National Park is among Tabriz tourist attractions where you can observe many impressive elements such as remnants of stony mills. To access the region, you need to pass Siah Rud city along Aras Border River, parallel to the borders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and within Kantal valley.
